Just something I threw together last night. My take on the Five Things Meme that's going around. SGA and John has a guitar. Unbeta'd. All mine. Except the characters of course. Oh, yea, and there's Karaoke Night on Atlantis. Why not?

I lost a dear friend on Monday. Someone I've known for a long time. He was my boyfriend's best friend and my dancing buddy when we hung out at clubs. An all around good guy who laughed easily at your jokes (even the really lame ones I specialize in) and always understood. He was 30 and died peacefully in his sleep due to complications with diabetes. He went to sleep and never woke up. I cannot imagine a better way to go, but 30 is too damn young.

Jimmy Eat World - May Angels Lead You In

There's no one in town I know
You gave us some place to go.
I never said thank you for that.
I thought I might get one more chance.

What would you think of me now,
So lucky, so strong, so proud?
I never said thank you for that.
Now I'll never have a chance.

May angels lead you in.
Here you meet my friends.
On sleepless roads the sleepless go.
May angels lead you in.

So what would you think of me now,
So lucky, so strong, so proud?
I never said thank you for that.
Now I'll never have a chance.

May angels lead you in.
Here you meet my friends.
On sleepless roads the sleepless go.
May angels lead you in.

May angels lead you in.
May angels lead you in.

And if you were with me tonight,
I'd sing to you just one more time.
A song for a heart so big,
God wouldn't let it live.

May angels lead you in.
Here you meet my friends.
On sleepless roads the sleepless go.
May angels lead you in.

May angels lead you in.
Here you meet my friends.
On sleepless roads the sleepless go.
May angels lead you in.

May angels lead you in.

Earlier this week I joined a gym. I am like sooo out of shape. Right now, I'm just doing the treadmill thing. It's still a pretty good work out, except it's kind of monotonous. They keep the volume on the radio pretty low for a gym. The tv is on mute and no subtitles. Plus, I'm going alone so there's no one to talk to. Solution? I broke down and ordered an MP3 player. Hopefully it will be here by Wednesday. It isn't the fanciest one on the block and it only holds a gig, but it should be plenty for me.

Tomorrow night my sister's boyfriend's band will be playing at a local bar. Yea!! I haven't had a chance to listen to him play yet, so I'm pretty excited. Also, this will be the first time Dwayne and I have been to a bar in several years. Should be lots of fun. Especially since we have a DD which means Dwayne can have a beer or two if he wants.

A lovely little quote I found online from Other Voices, Other Rooms by Capote that I thought I would share.

The brain may take advice, but not the heart, and love having no geography, knows no boundaries: weight and sink it deep, no matter, it will rise and find the surface: and why not? any love is natural and beautiful that lies within a person's nature; only hypocrites would hold a man responsible for what he loves, emotional illiterates and those of righteous envy, who, in their agitated concern, mistake so frequently the arrow pointing to heaven for the one that leads to hell.

Found here if anyone's interested.

I have been having pretty craptastic days here lately, hence lack of updates.  Nothing major, just a lot of minors adding up.  For one thing I work out in the country.  It takes 15 minutes to get to town.  I only have an hour lunch, leaving me, really, with a half to get everything I need to get done.  Except, they've begun working on the main road between here and town, so I've been forced to take some of the smaller side roads adding another ten minutes on each way, leaving me with a total of ten minutes.  Why even bother going, right?  Well ...

A) Business has picked up, as it does every year this time, and chaos is settling in.

B) Since I have had a few semesters of computer programming and am not afraid of computers, it is assumed around here that I can fix computers.  I cannot.  Our network server's power supply is going out.  The office manager here called a local computer guy who ordered a new power supply; however, the owner of our company does not want to pay $120 for the computer guy to come out here and install it.  Why should they?  I can fix computers, right?  I get the power supplies switched and it turns out the power supply is bad.  Originally, I thought I'd screwed up, but I switched back to the old one and it works perfectly.  Also, mine and the dispatcher's computers run very very slow.  O.M. ordered memory while ordering the power supply.  Memory does not fit my computer.  Luckily, it does fit the dispatchers.  This has been my day.  This is also why fighting to get to town is better than an hour here.

But ... I did have a very nice Valentines yesterday.  I got Dwayne a stack of Nirvana CDs and a Diamond Rio CD he's been wanting along with a cute card and a small box of chocolates.  He got me some roses, balloons, a very sweet card, and two books I've really been wanting for a while, In Cold Blood and Death's Acre.  Both look very good.  Click the links, Tara.  They're right along our alley.

I need to run.  I keep having to stop writing here to answer the phone and it's driving me crazy.

Man, has it been a busy week and it's only half over. My days are supposed to begin at 8 am and end at 5 pm, but I like to get here around 7:30 am. I like starting my day with a half hour of peace and quiet. Well, the owner of the company has been interviewing for two different positions. He's been
scheduling the interviews between 7:30 and 8:30, so instead of having my half hour of peace and quiet, I've been walking into pure chaos. Plus, the weather here has been pretty which means the pine straw business is picking up. Just plain hectic.

Sunday, Mom, my step father David, and I went to see Brokeback Mountain. It was ... amazing. Heart breaking. Beautiful. There really aren't enough words to describe this movie. It actually had a better turn out than I expected. 3/4 of the theater was filled. Very few people left dry-eyed. I wasn't among them. Mom and David loved it as well. We've been talking about it ever since.

Yesterday was Dwayne's birthday and I got him a region-free portable dvd player. He's been looking at them for a while. He was so surprised. Now, he can finally watch the Googlewhack dvd Tara copied for me. Yea! Also, I ordered a copy of the James Marsters show Tara and I attended last November and we can finally watch it as well. We decided not to go out to dinner last night since it was a week night. Instead, I'm taking him out for his b-day dinner Saturday. More than likely we'll go to Mikata's, one of those Japanese steakhouses where they cook the meal at your table. Haven't been there in a while. Should be fun.

Just found out Tara, Mark, and Gage are coming over the end of April. YEA!!!!! I miss them so much, so when I do get to see them it's wonderful. Plus, it's just a few weeks before my birthday so it's like the best b-day present ever. :)

Not really too much else going on. New NCIS last night. Abby was as beautiful as ever. Won't have another new one for a few weeks, though. :(

Oh, and, Tara, the infamous Lady Heather CSI is this week.

Anyway, that's about it. See what I've saved you guys from by not updating for, uh, months?

I just wanted to say hey. I know I've been gone a while, but I'm going to try and update more. Random observations about my shows and such. Current shows, if anyone's wondering: NCIS, CSI, Smallville, Supernatural, Numb3rs, Stargate: Atlantis, and House when I can swing it. At the moment, my biggest obsession, fan-wise, is NCIS. Well, Pauley Perrette in any manifestation to be exact. Please see icon for reference. All kinds of lovely that girl is.

Work is good, other than the typical one person. Home-life is great. May have some wonderful, about damn time news on that front a little later. Babies are wonderful. Wilson (the Boxer) is a constant ball of energy and entertainment. Abby (the squirrel) is feisty and beautiful. Chanty (11 year old cat) rules the roost with an iron fist. She basically ignores Abby, but Wilson doesn't dare step out of line.

That's about all. If I think of anything else, I'll add later.

We're getting Brokeback Mountain!!!! Auburn "If-You-Aren't-Baptist-Then-You're-Going-To-Hell" Alabama is getting Brokeback Mountain!!! Many levels of awesome. My mom and I are going to see it Saturday. Man, I was worried I'd have to rent through Netflix just to see it. Sometimes it really sucks living in the middle of the Bible Belt.

One last note ...

I think I've decided what my next tattoo will be... In the Decay of Lying by Oscar Wilde, there is this one part that reads:

and over our heads will float the Blue Bird singing of beautiful and impossible things, of things that are lovely and that never happened, of things that are not and that should be.

I've always loved that. This isn't the way it's supposed to be, ya know. Not saying it's supposed to be perfect, but it's supposed to be ... better.

So, anyway, I'm going to incorporate those lines with a blue bird somehow. Okay, so I don't have the details worked out perfectly yet. I know ... that's going to be it.

God, I'm *bored*. To earn a little extra cash for my trip in October, I've volunteered to work a couple of hours every other Saturday. Normally, Gene works, but this way Gene can actually get a Saturday off on occasion. Saturday mornings are very quiet, especially when it's been raining. We sell pine straw and for some strange reason people don't want to buy pine straw in the rain. Weird, I know.

Finally saw Star Wars last Sunday. Tara, I know you weren't impressed, but I loved it. I hated the first two (who didn't). I don't even consider them a part of the SW universe. This last one, though ... wow. One of the most heartbreaking movies I've seen in a while. And it *felt* like Star Wars. It was amazing. I'm definitely buying it when it comes out on DVD. May go see it again this week.

Also, saw Madagascar last weekend. Loved it. Of course, it takes a lot for me to not like a movie. Usually, I can find something good in it. A character or a place or even a few lines ... Back to Madagascar, though. It was very cute. One tiny little scene was a parody of an original Twilight Zone episode, one of my favorite all time shows. I love it when my worlds collide like that.

While I'm on the subject of movies, Mr. and Mrs. Smith opens next week! Starring the absolutely, stunningly beautiful Angelina Jolie and some guy. (sidenote: she turns 30 today!).

Guess, I should run before I bore myself to sleep. Too late....

Mind = mush.

As things stood yesterday morning, I was going either the end of October or the end of November to see my beloved sister Tara, beautiful nephew Gage, and occasionally charming, country-singing brother-in-law Mark. Already, awesome beyond belief. I love going to see them. Sometimes I feel like there are only two people on this planet who completely understand me and all of my eccentricities. I live with one, Dwayne, and the other lives half-way across the world. So, when I get to see her it makes me a very happy little girl.

As of this morning, not only am I going to see her, she was able to get us tickets to see James Marsters live as he performs a one-man theater piece he's preparing for this show, then sing a couple of songs from his new album. AND we'll be sitting *front row center*. I am... right now I'm pretty much "tree pretty, fire bad". James and all his beauty right there. This isn't going to be pretty. I freaked out when I met Majel Barrett. This is James. Then Tara mentioned hand cuffs to keep me in my seat and I had this image of James and hand cuffs and ... guh...

Then I found tickets for 10/27/05 - 11/6/05 flying British Airways which would give us 9 full days, 3 days longer than I've ever been able to stay before for $1,140 (for both tickets) which is $100 cheaper than the 6 day flight I had originally planned and I'm just ... wow.

Wow, has it been a while since I've done an actual update. But, really, nothing much has been going on. Wilson, our boxer "puppy", is now seven months old and fifty pounds. He's a spoiled rotten baby who sleeps in the bed with me at night. I actually prefer it that way, though. Since Dwayne works third, I feel better with him close by. He goes nuts when he hears a noise he doesn't recognize. As tough as he thinks he is, though, he's still afraid of the cat. Chanty rules our house and everyone knows it. Things are as they should be.

We are actually looking into getting a second boxer. We're considering getting Wilson a girlfriend, maybe raise some puppies. Yea, I know we have no idea what we're getting ourselves into, but, really, does anyone ever? If we do get another one, she'll be my little girl. I've been researching white boxers for a couple of weeks, reading horror tales about how many of them are put down when born because white boxers aren't recognized breeds in the AKC. Many people say if they're white, then they're automatically deaf. I've seen several tests that prove only 12% are born deaf. They're beautiful creatures and it breaks my heart to imagine them killed simply because they don't fit the standard. Maybe I'll adopt a white one and name her Jorja.

I'm getting really frustrated with my stories. I find a couple I'd like to see together. Currently, it's Sara and Greg from CSI, but it doesn't really matter. The problem I'm having is with any of my 'ships. I begin the story by emphasizing their insecurities. He used to be heavily into drugs. She is a drunk. He is in love with him, only he (whichever he) has never been with a man. Same subject, only with chicks. Whatever. Ultimately, what I want to achieve is the two completely understand each other and love each other as no other could. Admittedly far from original, but (a) that's why I very rarely post stories and (b) I write for my benefit and will never make a dime from any of it. The problem is I get through the muck and they realize they love each other or whatever and I lose interest. Fast. So nothing ever gets finished. It's really beginning to irritate me.

So, that's about all that's going on.

Oh, Tara, we will be able to get our tickets, at the latest, the end of July. If I continue to follow my little budget, we should be able to afford a few more things this time around. Possibly even a dinner. *L*

I haven't been able to update this thing in ages. We've hit the busy season at work. A lot has gone on, but not really anything interesting. I know I've promised a bunch of cards. I plan on sending them Monday. They are currently locked in the truck of my car which is currently in the shop. Guess what Santa's bringing me this year! A timing belt! Yea! I've always wanted one. Also, it goes with my shoes and my purse. I'm just thrilled. Until I have time for a more detailed update...
